Jim Fitzgerald, Chief Executive Officer, has more than 30 years of experience in training, program development & execution, leadership, and advocacy for the welfare of children. He has been with Intermountain since 1978 and served as a direct care counselor and Director of Operations prior to becoming its Chief Executive Officer.

FitzGerald is a recognized leader in youth advocacy, and his extensive knowledge of children’s mental health issues contributes to the national forum of child welfare and public policy. He currently works with the Child Welfare League of America, serving as Montana’s state leader and as Chair of the League’s National Public Policy Advisory Committee. FitzGerald is also an appointed member of Montana’s Mental Health Oversight and Advisory Committee.

Intermountain, a nationally accredited non‐profit organization, provides mental health and educational services to effectively meet the diverse needs of children and families facing emotional challenges. Operating for more than 100 years, Intermountain is one of Montana’s oldest child welfare agencies, directly serving more than 700  children through its residential and community based programs.

FitzGerald received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California Los Angeles and his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Montana.
